#1 A Merciful King
Deep in the golden savanna, a mighty lion lay fast asleep. A tiny mouse, scurrying through the tall grass, accidentally ran across the lion's nose. The great beast awoke with a roar and trapped the mouse under his heavy paw. 'Please, King of the Forest,' the mouse squeaked, 'spare me, and one day I may repay your kindness.' The lion laughed at the idea of a small mouse helping him, but moved by the creature's bravery, he lifted his paw and let the mouse go.
#2 The Hunter's Snare
A few weeks later, while prowling the woods, the lion stepped into a hunter's trap. A thick net of sturdy ropes fell over him, pinning him to the ground. The lion struggled with all his might, but the more he fought, the tighter the ropes became. He let out a thunderous roar of distress that echoed through the entire jungle, signaling his defeat and impending capture by the hunters.
#3 A Promise Kept
The little mouse heard the lion's roar and recognized the voice of his benefactor. He rushed to the spot and found the lion bound by ropes. 'Do not worry, my friend,' the mouse said. He began gnawing through the thick cords with his tiny, sharp teeth. One by one, the ropes snapped until the lion was free. The lion realized that even the smallest creature can be a great friend. 'Kindness is never wasted,' the lion whispered, and the two remained friends forever.
