#1 Part 1: Squeaky the Squirrel
In a big, tall tree lived a little squirrel named Squeaky. Squeaky was a very sleepy squirrel. While all the other squirrels ran and jumped to find nuts, Squeaky liked to nap. 'Winter is coming,' said his friends. 'You must prepare. You must find nuts.' Squeaky yawned. He found one very big nut. 'This is a good nut,' he said. 'This one nut is enough.' Then, the sleepy squirrel curled up in his nest and went to sleep.
#2 Part 2: The Cold Winter
Soon, the world turned white. Snow fell down, down, down. It was winter. Squeaky woke up because he was cold. He woke up because he was hungry. 'Time for my nut,' he said. He looked for his one big nut. He looked in his nest. He looked on the branch. The nut was gone. The snow covered everything. Squeaky was a sad and hungry squirrel. He was not prepared for winter.
#3 Part 3: A Lesson Learned
Squeaky shivered. Then he remembered. He did not put the nut in his nest. He put the nut under a big, red leaf. He ran down the tree. He dug in the snow. He saw the big, red leaf. And under the leaf was his one big nut! Squeaky was so happy. He ate his yummy nut. He was not hungry anymore. He learned his lesson. Next year, he would prepare. He would gather many nuts, not just one. Being prepared is a very good thing.
